ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
Dear colleagues!

Symposium Osteology Eastern Europe will be held again in Ukraine, for the second time a meaningful scientific cluster awaits us, full of intense knowledge from the best speakers and practitioners.

Again, we have chosen a relevant topic - "Challenges in Oral Tissue Regeneration". More and more patients nowadays are opting for implant treatment and the importance of long-term results and complications is becoming more acute. Unfortunately, a doctor in professional activity does not always accompany success - we must be prepared to accept the challenges. To do this, we need a thorough knowledge and awareness of the individual characteristics of each patient, every clinical case, no matter how complex it was. Our speakers, using evidence-based material, will conduct a thorough clinical case analysis of their own practice and familiarize themselves with innovative regeneration techniques. The focus of the symposium is soft tissue implantation, modern evidence-based protocols and prospects for bone augmentation and regeneration, surgical techniques for the treatment of peri-implantitis.

At the time of information entropy, the priority of our symposium is the reliability and following the principles of scientific evidence-based medicine. The future belongs to professionals.

Abstract of presentation: Bone augmentation is an import tool for a favourable implant prognosis. Our understanding of possibilities and limits using bone substitutes has grown over the last years. Materials, membranes and autologous bone have used in their specific indications. Predictability and risks of vertical Augmentation procedures have to be weight against the use of short implants. This is an individual decision-making process including external and internal evidence. Different methods have different biological background and limits (blocks, shells, GBR); different materials have varying biological properties (autologous, allogenic, xenogenic). In recent years 3D diagnostics and virtual planning allows a bidirectional planning with respect to both, the available bone volume and the prosthodontic restoration. Individually fabricated Titanium meshes are available with specific indications. Practical aspects for the different techniques will be highlighted.

Objectives:

  • Understand the limits of bone augmentations in the specific indications.

  • Know the clinical recommendations for choosing implant dimensions.

  • Understand the role of 3D planning in the decision making process.

Title of presentation: Vertical Augmentation in focus

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
Science and clinical practice in dental regeneration sometimes exist as separate worlds. For further progress in this field, the need for a combination of science and practice is obvious. That is why, in 2003, Dr Peter Geistlich and Geistlich Pharma AG founded the OsteologyFoundation, which sponsored independent research and educational programs in the field of dental regeneration worldwide for the benefit of patients.
Since then, the Board of the Osteology Foundation has been steadily working toward this goal, and its activities are gradually expanding. Today, the Osteology Foundation offers a wide range of grants, courses, books and symposiums for researchers and practitioners in the regeneration of oral tissues, always trying to bring the two groups together and facilitate the exchange of experience between them.

However, despite all our efforts, there remain many unresolved problems in the field of bone and soft tissue regeneration. New techniques and technologies are constantly being improved, and they need to be tested and evaluated to treat patients more effectively.
The Osteology Foundation will continue to support research in this field, and will do whatever it takes to integrate research into everyday clinical practice, always staying true to its motto of "Combining Science and Practice in Regeneration."
