Science and clinical practice in dental regeneration sometimes exist as separate worlds. For further progress in this field, the need for a combination of science and practice is obvious. That is why, in 2003, Dr Peter Geistlich and Geistlich Pharma AG founded the OsteologyFoundation, which sponsored independent research and educational programs in the field of dental regeneration worldwide for the benefit of patients.
Since then, the Board of the Osteology Foundation has been steadily working toward this goal, and its activities are gradually expanding. Today, the Osteology Foundation offers a wide range of grants, courses, books and symposiums for researchers and practitioners in the regeneration of oral tissues, always trying to bring the two groups together and facilitate the exchange of experience between them. However, despite all our efforts, there remain many unresolved problems in the field of bone and soft tissue regeneration. New techniques and technologies are constantly being improved, and they need to be tested and evaluated to treat patients more effectively.
The Osteology Foundation will continue to support research in this field, and will do whatever it takes to integrate research into everyday clinical practice, always staying true to its motto of "Combining Science and Practice in Regeneration."
