Title of presentation: Vertical Augmentation in focus

Abstract: Bone augmentation is an import tool for a favourable implant prognosis. Our understanding of possibilities and limits using bone substitutes has grown over the last years. Materials, membranes and autologous bone have used in their specific indications. Predictability and risks of vertical Augmentation procedures have to be weight against the use of short implants. This is an individual decision-making process including external and internal evidence. Different methods have different biological background and limits (blocks, shells, GBR); different materials have varying biological properties (autologous, allogenic, xenogenic). In recent years 3D diagnostics and virtual planning allows a bidirectional planning with respect to both, the available bone volume and the prosthodontic restoration. Individually fabricated Titanium meshes are available with specific indications. Practical aspects for the different techniques will be highlighted.

Title of presentation: Regeneration of peri-implant defects: overview & the science behind (Surgical Regenerative Therapy of Peri-implantitis.)

Abstract: The management of infectious diseases affecting osseointegrated implants in function has become a demanding issue in implant dentistry. While nonsurgical therapy was effective in the treatment of mucositis lesions, for peri-implantitis, mechanical debridement alone has shown limited efficacy. In contrast, surgical treatment of peri-implantitis with concomitant placement of a bone filler was proven to be associated with clinical and radiographic improvements on both short- and long-term periods. However, the effectiveness of regenerative treatment approaches is influenced by several factors, such as the configuration of the defect, the type of bone filler, implant surface characteristics, as well as the method of surface decontamination.

This presentation will focus on the following key areas:
- Surgical techniques and materials for regenerative therapy of peri-implantitis associated defects
- Decontamination protocols
- Combination procedures for advanced defects (resective/regenerative)

Title of presentation: The Biologically Guided Approach (BGA) for vertical and horizontal ridge augmentations in the digital era.

Abstract: „Open healing" protocol in conjunction with flapless techniques in oral implantology are part of the minimally invasive surgery concept that has been described as „the Biological Guided Approach". This approach allows us to make intervention with a lowest level of aggression to both the bone and soft tissues, shortening the surgery time, reducing the surgical risks and achieving high levels of satisfaction for the patient.

Even nowadays digital technology brings an accurate support, flapless implant surgery is still thought by many to be a procedure characterized by limitations. As in all major milestones, there are two ways to view flapless implant surgery, either as having possibilities or as possessing limitations.

This out of the box presentation shows definitive outcomes and scientific proof of the efficacy of „open healing" and flapless implant surgery during or following vertical and horizontal ridge augmentations, as well as the best materials and techniques necessary to obtain its greatest benefits, starting from the classic state of the art analogue techniques up to the most recent protocols that include digital support.

Title of presentation: Peri-implantitis treatment: a perspective from the practice

Abstract: The use of dental implants is considered a safe and reliable method for the replacement of missing teeth, which has shown high survival rates. However, due to the widespread use of dental implants and rather high rates of biological complications, peri-implant diseases are becoming an emerging healthcare issue. Despite some evidence of long-term success of peri-implantitis treatment, its predictability still remains questionable. Current scientific literature shows that various risk factors may

be associated with initiation and progression of peri-implantitis. Moreover, these factors may influence the treatment results.

In this presentation, the issue of peri-implantitis will be addressed from the clinician's point of view. What can we expect from the treatment? What are the clinical and patient-related treatment goals? What are the possibilities and limitations of current treatment modalities?

How to make a critical decision of whether to treat or explant implants affected by peri-implantitis?

Evidence-based and practice-based recommendations will be given in order to answer those questions.
